Haleakala Sunrise Self-Guided Bike Tour with Bike Maui

4.4 (6 verified reviews)

Before you book

  • No hotel pickup: you meet at Bike Maui's shop in Haiku Marketplace, 810 Haiku Rd. Bike Maui's FAQ puts sunrise check-in between 2:30 and 4:00 am, by season; the listing has you back in Haiku around 10 to 10:30 am.
  • You ride at your own pace from about 6,500 ft, just outside the park, after sunrise in the park by van. The riding is short: one rider timed it at 2 x 15 minutes. Groups of more than six must book the guided ride.
  • Riders must be 15 or older, at least 4 ft 10 in tall, able to use hand brakes and recently on a bike. Bike Maui takes no pregnant riders, no one over 300 lb (136 kg) and no one who dived in the previous 24 hours.
  • Breakfast in Makawao is no-host, at your own cost, so bring cash. Park entry is included, but confirm with Bike Maui how riders enter the park for sunrise and whether you need a sunrise reservation.
  • County rules close Baldwin Avenue to bike tours on Wednesdays, so on a Wednesday ask how the ride runs. No one can guarantee the sunrise view.
